7 FAQs Parents Ask

What is Summer Harvest?

Summer Harvest is a youth camp that has been running for the last 21 years. Over 20,000 young people have attended over the years. Run by Incedo (formerly Youth for Christ), Summer Harvest is designed as a safe alternative to other New Year actitivies. It offers a wide variety of sports, water activities, concert programmes and general fun in the sun.

What are the sleeping arrangements?

There is no mixed tenting at Summer Harvest. Girls and guys have separate tenting areas and they may not enter the opposite sexes area. Cluster leaders and camp parents in each tent area enforce this as well as the 24 hr security.

Are alcohol and drugs allowed at Summer Harvest?

NO! Summer harvest is a fun, safe alcohol and drug free environment for our young people. Anyone caught with alcohol or drugs will be sent home. Enrolling at Summer Harvest gives the leaders permission to search if deemed necessary.

Will there be adequate supervision?

YES! For every 5-7 campers there is 1 cluster leader. These leaders are trained people over the age of 18. There are also 2 camp parents for every 100 campers and a large number of workers and security people supervising throughout the week. Our supervision is very good, we have a trouble free reputation and are endorsed by the NZ Police.

Will campers be able to leave and will the public have access during the week of camp?

No one may leave the camp unless they are involved in organised activities supervised by camp staff (eg. caving, kayaking). Those who drive themselves to camp do not have access to their vehicles or permission to drive them off site during camp. Summer Harvest has its own private beach area with no public access.

Are the activities at Summer Harvest safe?

Most activities at Summer Harvest are run by qualified professionals. There will be qualified life guards at the beach, and first aid people on hand if needed. Each activity and camp area has a full risk assessment to OSH standards.

Can parents come too?
